Harborside Fountain Park

The Harborside Fountain Park is slated to open on May 5 at 10AM. During construction of the park, I got a first-hand tour of the park. When most people think of parks, the immediate thing that comes to mind is grass. You will find little to no grass at this park. Instead you'll find huge boulders, many types of tree and plant species native to the Pacific Northwest, multi-colored granite pathways, and of course the large copper water fountains. Standing in the middle of the park made me feel relaxed and isolated from the hustle and bustle of downtown--why we enjoy our parks in the first place. It's unlike any park I have visited and it will be a park truly unique to Bremerton. For more information about the park, check out the City of Bremerton's website.

30th Floor

Last week I had training in Seattle in the 1111 Third Avenue Building (the Wells Fargo Building). Here are some pictures from the 30th floor facing south towards SoDo and Pioneer Square.

Viaduct Vote

The Stranger has a great article about the upcoming viaduct vote. I am completely against rebuilding the viaduct--the same 1950's thinking that built the original viaduct is what got us into this mess. That same mindset is definitely not going to last us another fifty years. I am not opposed to the tunnel just so long as they can find a creative financing solution that wouldn't result in new taxes to state residents.
